The soldiers, who have held Donetsk airport, under intense daily attacks from Kremlin-backed insurgents for more than 5 months, have become cult figures in Ukraine. They have been immortalized on social media networks, such as Twitter and Facebook, compared with Marvel comic heroes Iron Man and iconic characters from Hollywood movies, such as the Terminator. Some have even suggested renaming Kirovohrad, home to many of the 'cyborgs,' to Kiborhrad, or city of cyborgs.
